My Ascot Look 2010

Thursday, 17th Jun 2010
Well if you have visited my blog already, you’ll know that I am getting extremely excited about going to Ascot on Saturday. I’ve been talking about it non-stop, looking at last year’s photographs and generally working myself up into a total frenzy.
The outfit has been in planning for a few months and I am very happy with the final product. I have even been on a 7 day juice-only diet to ensure that the dress fits exactly as it should! Are you starting to understand the extent of my excitement? You may have gathered that I am a fashion enthusiast, not a racing enthusiast. For me, Ascot is all about dressing up and drinking champagne, not understanding the odds and studying the form or whatever they say! Just typing this is getting me in a bit of a tizzy. Breathe.
Planning the outfit has been a fun project. There have been changes made along the way but I am now satisfied with the choices and purchases made, even down to the underwear and nail polish. So, seeing as I’ve been going on about it so much, and after quite a few requests, I thought I would show you my style board. And here it is. Da daaaaa!
Photobucket
The Dress:  Aqua Couture from ASOS
The Clutch:  French Connection
The Shoes:  French Connection
The Cuff:  ASOS
Nail Polish:  Jessica, 380 Unleashed (not shown) A dark red colour.
Now, apologies for the lack of a hat. I am not a hat wearer. In fact, every time I have worn a hat in the past, I have taken it off, put it down, forgotten that I ever owned it and promptly lost it. Ree and hats don’t go together. Instead, I try to include an eye catching feature on my dress, like the hoop on this one or the tartan bow from last year. I do hope this makes up for it.

I love outfit planning and this is a big part of the enjoyment of special events for me. Do you like dressing up?  Do you plan ahead or are you a last minute merchant? I’d love to hear what you think of my Ascot look, my lack of a hat, and dressing up in general.

Can’t wait to hear from you.

I love wearing hats, but your outfit looks amazing without – the accessories are great, love the shoes and the cuff is beautiful. Have fun!

I usually plan ahead wether a major event or daily wear in the office!
I hear you on the hats – where I live it makes so much sense for people to wear them yet it’s not a norm. I would love to but I think I’d end up losing them too!

I love love love this dress! Was looking at something similar but didn’t buy cause there’s no occasion yet. I need an Ascot day! Lol

can’t wait to see this whole ensemble on you!!

You are going to look stunning tomorrow. I love the fact you chose this colour rather than going very bright. I am a believer that less is always more. You will def stand out from the rest with this stunning outfit. Please do take lots of pictures & have a great day!

Ohhh I adore it all! You are going to look stunning. Cocktail of fashion is right about the colour…bored of seeing ladies day outfits that are black with no colour!

Cant wait to see the pics from the day it’s self. Knock’um dead chicken ;-)
