I took a trip this morning to London's Savoy Hotel to see the gorgeous folk at Forward PR as they showcased their fabulous brands' offering for Spring Summer 2011.
The first line I want to talk to you about was one I was particularly impressed by, and it was produced by an amazing eco-aware, luxury womenswear label, Beautiful Soul. Creators of (in their own words):
"Timeless Pieces: Offering a true meaning, direction and soul..."
These stunning creations are the product of the genius upcycling of vintage kimonos into beautifully tailored pieces, each so individual, classic and timeless. The garments are made to last and the designer, and founder of Beautiful Soul Nicola Woods' intention is that each piece will last its owner a lifetime.
Beautiful Soul, founded in 2008, has an incredibly strong ethical focus inspired by the awareness of the impact that the fashion industry has on our environment. In addition to their innovative sourcing and recycling of fabrics from the all round the world, they also operate a zero waste policy.
Remnants of fabrics are engineered into smaller garments, such as corsets, used for fastenings and embellishments, and also in the construction of other garments, for example, the shoulder padding in the men's capsule range.
Nicola Woods says,
"I design with a compassionate outlook. I love this planet. I want the next generation to enjoy it as I am. I am not an eco-warrior. I just care.”
