The 'Boy', named after and inspired by Boy Capel, with whom Coco Chanel had a nine year long affair, is set to be an instant classic with it gorgeous heavy hardware and chic book-like structure.
Whilst being a new direction for Chanel, this bag is born of all the influences that resonate with the early history of the brand, as Boy Capel not only assisted with the finance of Chanel's first boutiques but influenced with his own personal style. He provided the inspiration behind the androgynous style synonymous with the fashion house.
“Chanel used men’s underwear to make dresses; she had this boyish attitude, in fact it is the very spirit of Chanel. She got it from Boy Capel, the great love of her life, which, incidentally, explains why the new bag is called the Boy Chanel,” Karl Lagerfeld explains of his inspiration.
The bags, which will be available from September, come in a variety of designs from a clutch to a tote, in shades of red, black, ivory and grey with a price tag of HUGE!
