Kirkwood Wonderland. Shoes Fit for Alice!

Monday, 14th Nov 2011
When Tim Burton’s Alice in Wonderland hit cinemas in 2010 I became instantly obsessed with that Red Dress.

There’s something so magical about it, so decadent and dream-like for me, and it was this image that remained strongest in my head after the film had ended. I think I even joined a facebook group called ‘I love Alice’s Red Dress’ or something along those lines!
The magic of that film all came flooding back when I saw these beautiful Kirkwood Alice shoes at Javari’s ‘Shoes for Show’ exhibition.

Stunning aren’t they? I literally couldn’t stop staring at them. Kirkwood designed these for Parisian store Printemps who were launching an Alice themed window ahead of the film’s release. I would have loved to have seen that display. Apparently Kirkwood trawled boot sales across the UK to collect all the pieces he used. Love them!Unfortunately the exhibition is now closed, but you can see the rest of my photos here.
