Petit Bateau's Perfect Summer Solution

Photobucket
Petit Bateau Polo Dress

I completely adore this classic polo dress I was kindly given at the launch of Petit Bateau's newest store at 70 Marylebone High Street and the new polo styles.

This dress is the perfect summer solution for a casual day time look. It's really comfortable and cool, washes brilliantly and if you hang it straight up, you can even get away with having to iron it! Fabbie!! Here I am wearing it with some Converse and my Tabio bows, but I have also worn it with wedges and a blazer.

The dresses come in a range of colours and cost £46. Check out the other boutique locations here.

If I had a little girl, we could have matching ones!! Look!

Photobucket
Beauty Recommended Magazine

I just wanted to share with you my feature in June's issue of Beauty Recommended, P&G's online beauty monthly that was created following a poll of female consumers, which found that 92% of women do not feel that beauty brands listen to their views.

Beauty Recommended magazine is edited by Annabel Jones, formerly the beauty editor at women's weekly magazine Grazia, and this month it features MY easy Summer style tips. Check me out!! I'm on page 18!!

There's also a host of other tips and features including makeup advice from my fave, Caroline Barnes, Max Factor's makeup queen.

Here's my video if you want to have a little looksy...

Beauty Recommended also has a 'click to buy' feature that means if you see a look you like, you can buy it there and then from Superdrug, Boots, Tesco, Asda and Amazon. Fabbie eh??!

So what do you think?

TK Maxx Press Day SS11 and AW11. Let the Bargain Hunting Commence!

Photobucket
TX Maxx

I was so impressed with the TK Maxx press day. Traditionally, it has been a store that has scared the living daylights out of me. When I have faced up to it, I have always entered with such high hopes but often I have left empty handed and crest fallen.

The press day, however, has re-inspired me. A beautiful collection of on-trend, stunning pieces, all at ridiculously discounted prices.  I just know the hunt has to be worth it. And apparently, it's a matter of learning how to shop the TK Maxx way. Sign me up for lessons!

And TK Maxx's Gold Label range is really something to get excited about.  Here you'll find the ultimate luxury labels at a fraction of the cost, many of which are even current season, and is also the case across all store ranges.

Check out my photos from the event. All the pieces were pulled from four stores across London. I wanted it all.

Chanel Boy Bag

It's bold, smooth, chunky, crisp, clean yet still super sexy. And there's not a bit of quilting in sight. The 'Boy', named after and inspired by Boy Capel, with whom Coco Chanel had a nine year long affair, is set to be an instant classic with it gorgeous heavy hardware and chic book-like structure.

Whilst being a new direction for Chanel, this bag is born of all the influences that resonate with the early history of the brand, as Boy Capel not only assisted with the finance of Chanel's first boutiques but influenced with his own personal style. He provided the inspiration behind the androgynous style synonymous with the fashion house.

“Chanel used men’s underwear to make dresses; she had this boyish attitude, in fact it is the very spirit of Chanel. She got it from Boy Capel, the great love of her life, which, incidentally, explains why the new bag is called the Boy Chanel,” Karl Lagerfeld explains of his inspiration.

The bags, which will be available from September, come in a variety of designs from a clutch to a tote, in shades of red, black, ivory and grey with a price tag of HUGE!

What say you?

The ReallyRee Guide to Fake Tanning

Fake tan can be your best friend if you do it right. You won’t need to wear as much makeup, you can get your legs out without the fear of blinding people and most importantly it means you don’t have to waste hours of your life sun bathing which can lead to premature ageing and much, much worse.

I am naturally a very pale person and after years of denial and pointless sunbathing, I finally accepted this fact and have been using self tanner all year round for quite a big chunk of my life.

Here are my tips to getting a perfect, natural-looking tan straight from the bottle.

Exfoliate....This is the first step to success. Because you want to ensure you have a lovely smooth canvass on which to apply the tan, it is crucial to exfoliate in the shower beforehand. Pay particular attention to areas prone to drier skin, such as knees, ankles, elbows and hands because the self tan will stick to any dry patches and they will appear darker than the rest of you.

Protect the danger areas...It is always a good idea to apply some moisturiser to drier areas, again, knees, ankles, elbows and hands. Make sure you rub it in well. Another good tip is to apply a very small amount of moisturiser along your eyebrows and on your hairline. The moisturiser will reduce the absorption of the tan to those areas and ensure you are not left with any tell-tale signs.

Apply! My preference is to use a tanning mitt to apply the product. Some people prefer gloves and both will protect you from the dreaded orange palms. You should pump the product on to the mitt and then apply in circular motions. If you use a self-tanner with an instant tint, or colour guide, it will be easier to see where you have applied and to ensure even coverage.

PhotobucketThe back is tricky!! If you are doing it yourself, it involves a lot of stretching and huffing and puffing!! You can buy a long wand applicator but I tend to manage. Ideally it’s best if someone helps but this isn’t always possible (or desirable!!) so I go it alone! It is actually possible to cover your whole back, you just have to attack it from every angle!!

I use fake tan on my face but just what is left on the mitt, never the actual dispensed product. It is such a small area that you need hardly any product at all. The moisturiser you have applied should protect your brows and hairline. I sweep the mitt quickly over the ears as you want them to match as well! Then I take a dry tissue and wipe it across my upper lip to remove any excess product. No-one wants a tan tash!!

I then wash my hands with soap gently, concentrating on the palms and between the fingers and then sweep a light tan application on the top of my hands.

Photobucket
The finisher is to get a dry flannel and some moisturiser and gently buff the wrist to avoid a line where your palm starts. If you see any other areas where the tan appears too concentrated, do the same gentle buffing.

What happens next...

With tinted products, they often appear very dark at first, but this is mainly due to the colour guide that will wash off when you next shower, so don’t be scared. It is best to leave it overnight to develop or avoid getting wet or sweaty(!) for at least 8 hours after application. The longer, the better. Try to cover up as much as you can to avoid getting tan on the bed sheet. But don’t worry because it will wash out.

Looser clothing for day or night is best, so you don’t disturb your lovely tan while it’s developing. In the morning you can shower as usual, and again, if the product has a colour guide, you will see it rinsing away down the plug hole. This is normal so don’t be alarmed. Moisturise well after the shower

Maintenance...Daily moisturising is key. Do a very light scrub on the third day after tanning. This will help the tan to fade evenly and prepare your skin for more tan should you fancy a top up.

Should you want to completely remove the tan for a fresh start, I recommend using a flannel in the shower. They are great at lifting the colour.

I wish you happy tanning!! If you have any questions or would like to share any of your own tips, please leave them in the comments, I'd love to hear from you.

Giveaway: Everybody’s wearing statement jewellery, but are we really making a statement?

A-lister clothing is centered around fabulous accessories and we all know jewellery can make or break an outfit. Which is great when you’re Eva Mendes, she looked stunning in this vintage inspired designer turquoise collar.

Or Alex Chung with this knuckle-dusting cocktail ring.

I love their style, but the problem is it’s THEIR style, once celeb assessories have been papped it’s not long before ‘affordable’ imitations hit the high street.. then we can all buy the look. But I can’t help think we’re missing the point.

Can you make a style statement with the mass produced, loud, copycat imitations? How often have you left the house in the morning feeling styled and fabulous only to walk into the office and find you’re wearing the same high street necklace as someone else?

The alternative is to open up the worldwide online designer/maker shopping experience and select something that’s truly individual, befitting with your lifestyle and personality but is affordable as well.

Buying from a designer is a growing trend that’s set to boom thanks in some ways to the combination of ‘Made in Chelsea’ starlet Amber Atherton and her jewellery website www.myflashtrash.com and Ms Kirsty Alsop’s stoic and infectious passion for all things handcrafted. We are being liberated from the shackles of the high street by websites like www.madeitmyself.com, www.notonthehighstreet.com, www.etsy.com and www.folksy.com. These websites offer what we are losing on the high street – individuality.

Grace & Garland

I’ve recently found my own little gem, a fledgling jewellery design company called Grace & Garland. They are going to be big, but for now they are tucked away in a quiet corner of Folksy.com. Think glamorous, fun, confident and sexy, and with prices starting at just £9, it's not just available to those with celeb-style credit.

I love the oversized fresh water pearl cocktail ring (£9), stunning garnet cuff bracelet (£14) and Shell Multi colour necklace (£11) which perfectly picks up on SS11's strong colour blocking trend.

And this is the best bit, Grace & Garland only ever make a handful of each style, so it's unlikely you'll see anyone else with the same piece.

To explore, indulge and make your own statement, go to Grace and Garland.

Find out more about the designer behind Grace & Garland here or on facebook here.

GIVEAWAY... Grace & Garland have three exclusive crystal cocktail rings to give away to ReallyRee readers. To enter simply ‘like’ Grace & Garland on Facebook AND tweet 'Enter the Grace & Garland Giveaway to win a cocktail ring with @ReallyRee http://bit.ly/kQFEsz RT #giveaway '

Good luck!

Sock it to 'em!!

I absolutely love Tabio. I completely adore it. In fact I truly want one of everything. I love socks and tights and special frou frou leg adornments and they don't come any better than Tabio.

Just check out these little bows I picked up at the recent Press Event. They are so cute that I think I just might be addicted to them. I have worn  them with my converse, heels, wedges and in a few different places too!
