Eugene Lin Autumn Winter 2011 - Medusa

Last week I got to have a look at Eugene Lin's latest collection and I really loved it. Here are a couple of shots I took...

I loved Eugene Lin's last collection which I saw when I met him a London Fashion Week in September 2010, but it seems that he is now moving in a different, edgier direction. The pieces still are built to flatter a woman's body, even if you're not a size zero. They are chic and sophisticated, cut to perfection yet have a sensuous darkness that feels very new. I adore the necklines which have folds and layers and beautiful draping.

I like it so much so that I thought I'd share the professional shots of Medusa with you...

Aveda Smooth Infusion Style Prep Smoother

Photobucket
Aveda Smooth Infusion Style Prep Smoother

Ever since I had my lovely cut and colour recently, I have been putting a bit more effort in with my hair. It can be kind of wild at times, but when I get it right, it makes such a difference to my whole look.

Problem is, I am really rubbish at hair. I have no idea how to deal with my kinks and bends, and when I try, I generally end up with just a bigger version of my kinky mop.

Which is why I have completely fallen in love with Smooth Infusion Style Prep Smoother (£18) from Aveda. It's a little miracle worker.

I literally work in about 3-4 pumps (I have quite a lot of hair)  brush it through, blast it with the hair dryer whilst smoothing it with my fingers, and my mop is tamed and sleek. Amazing!!!

Woo-hoo! It's like hair skills in a bottle!! LOVE it!!

Hello Kitty Meets Liberty!

A couple of years ago I had a major Hello Kitty crush. It was a bit odd because I was mid thirties and was insisting on prancing around in pink sequin pumps or cute kitty tees. But I didn't care!

Well I got over that quite a while ago but now I am in serious danger of the obsession coming back! At Boots' Christmas in July event, I spotted these beauties! Brand new for Christmas 2011 is this gorgeously fun collaboration between Liberty and Hello Kitty.

Fresh Summer Makeup

Photobucket

I sometimes get a bit unimaginative with my makeup and don’t really switch it around enough to suit the changing seasons. I vary my wardrobe but often find that although I am constantly experimenting with different products, I generally end up with the same kind of look. You know, a grey or brown smoky eye with black eyeliner (always!) and a good helping of bronzer.

So I decided to go for something a whole lot lighter and brighter, with a pop of colour rather than the naturals and greys I tend to opt for. And no black eye liner in sight!!

A Heaven-Sent Facial from Eve Taylor Aromatherapy.

While I was being super lucky the other week - you know having a cut and colour at FOUR London, and swishing around like a famous person - I was also treated to THE most amazing facial I have ever experienced!

Photobucket
Marie Reynolds

Basically I met the wonderful Marie Reynolds who is the Director of Education for Eve Taylor Professional Skin Care, and it was at this point I realised I was in for a real treat.

Eve Taylor treatments are holistic, which I am sure you know means that you are treated as a whole, and not in part, and this was my first experience of the holistic approach. Exciting!

The facial starts with the 'Systems of Analysis' technique. This is a 10-15 minute pre treatment consultation, where Marie looked at my face, feet and ears and then started telling me uncannily accurate things about my lifestyle and personality. It was so amazing that it really got me giggling! Really fascinating.

Eve Taylor herself actually received an OBE for this pioneering work in aromatherapy.

Photobucket
Eve Taylor OBE

Apparently study of these areas reveals insights into the stomach; liver; hormonal; lung and elimination conditions and Marie was able to accurately pin-point my weakness’ and strengths and then tailor the treatment to these.

***WARNING - I am about to start gushing and go a little over the top, but bear with me, I will try to contain myself!***

Things then get a bit harder to remember, as throughout the treatment I floated in and out of consciousness, in a blissful haze of gorgeous smells and amazing massage and wonderful serenity! (I did warn you!).

At the end of it I was literally floating on air. I had reached a level of relaxation that is practically unknown to me, and my skin felt softer than I ever remember it feeling. And it glowed too.

This is me after the treatment, with no makeup on my skin, just a little around the eyes.

Photobucket
Skin Post Eve Taylor Aromatherapy Signature Treatment

It was like brand new skin had been revealed. I even felt happy going out for the evening with my naked face!! Check me out!

I honestly cannot recommend this treatment enough. It was beyond gorgeous.

Eve Taylor Aromatherapy Facials with Marie start at £98.00. Call FOUR London on 0207 297 9600 for appointments.

Win a Bouquet from Serenata.

Photobucket
Serenata.com

I love sending flowers, especially to my mum. It feels really decadent and special yet is generally so simple to organise particularly if you find a good service.

My mummy loves flowers. She spends every chance she can in the garden, and when she comes to my house, she's outside trying to rescue me from an ensuing jungle! But I suppose, like food you haven't cooked, she really loves receiving flowers she hasn't grown herself.

Photobucket
Serenata.com

I usually send flowers for my mum's birthday, and when I do, I receive a torrent of picture messages showing me the ways she has arranged them and how many of her vases she has filled. It's very interactive and super satisfying!!

Photobucket
Serenata.com
What I really need to do is send her a bouquet when it isn't her birthday, or any occasion at all, just a lovely surprise to show her how much I love her, and get her busy with the vases!!

Serenata is a brilliant site because it provides loads of guidance to help you make you're choice. You can pick from summer flowers, exclusive flowers, entertainingly described as "floristocracy of the flower world and the supermodels of the petal promenade" and many other options. There are handy suggestions to suit the kind of person you are buying for.

Major bonus is that delivery is free, even for next day, as long as you order by 7pm. Fabbie!

GIVEAWAY!

Serenata have kindly given me a bouquet worth £30 (plus p&p if applicable) for one of the lovely ReallyRee readers to win.

All you have to do is be a follower of this blog (via Google Friend Connect), and leave a comment on this post telling me who you would most like to receive flowers from. Simples! You just need to remember that this giveaway is only open to residents of the UK.

Good luck

A Good Scrub. Palmer's Gentle Exfoliating Facial Scrub.

Photobucket
Palmer's Gentle Exfoliating Facial Scrub

I love a facial good scrub. I think it's an essential part of your skincare routine and genuinely makes all your other products so much more effective.

I have used a million and one different exfoliants, and although many do the job, some are just not tough enough, while others are too tough and don't look after your delicate skin's other needs.

Having heard lots of good things about Palmer's new facial range and being a fan of the body scrub already, I was keen to try out the Gentle Exfoliating Facial Scrub. I was expecting to be impressed.

Photobucket
Palmer's Gentle Exfoliating Facial Scrub

And impressed I was. It has a lovely rich consistency, which feels super nourishing and has fine exfoliating granules and some larger bits too (both made of cocoa beans) which gently but thoroughly polishes your skin.

The formula contains milk proteins which are naturally rich in AHAs and further promote the skin's exoliation. It also contains Cocoa and Shea Butters to moisturise, Vitamin E to protect against free radicals, and Aloe Vera and Evening Primrose to soothe and calm.

This scrub definitely ticks all the boxes and delivers what it promises. After using it, my skin was soft and smooth, but was not overly red and stressed, as it sometimes can be after exfoliating. It was really rather glowy. A major bonus is the price. It's £5.95 for 150g, and seeing as you don't need that much (about the size of a ten pence piece) it will last for ages! Fabbie!!

More good news - it is currently on special offer at Superdrug for £4.95! Thumbs up.

Dolce & Gabbana Rules for the Modern Gentleman App

Photobucket
Dolce & Gabbana Rules for the Modern Gentleman App

Here's some good news for the boys. Dolce & Gabbana have launched an iPhone App delightfully entitled, 'Rules for the Modern Gentleman'.

This app promises to answer every question that any aspiring gent could want to ask, and has been complied by etiquette expert Dylan Jone, editor of GQ. And guess what? It's completely free!

Photobucket
Dolce & Gabbana Rules for the Modern Gentleman App

It is split into three sections, Etiquette, Style and Grooming, and provides its user with guidance and advice for a range of different situations. Fab hey?! I want one for me!! I could probably spend my time a whole lot less embarrassed!!

There's a nice no-nonsense section on skincare. I particularly liked this bit about moisturising - "Treat your skin as you would a lover - with care and consideration but not so much attention that you come away feeling greasy".

Photobucket
Dolce and Gabbana - The One Fragrance

The Rules for a Modern Gentleman App is inspired by the Dolce and Gabbana - The One Fragrance.  "A scent for the man who is courteous, considered, and with an instinctive feel for chivalry". If this sounds right for you and yours, you can pick it up in Boots in the UK and Bloomingdale’s in the US.

So have you seen the app yet? What do you think? And please do let me know your top tips for the gents.

Can't wait to hear from you

Summer Nails: Neon Brights

I am a nail polish addict. I always wear colour and I think Summer is a great time to really have fun with it. I had some cool multi-colour pastel nails not long ago, courtesy of Barry M, and I had so many compliments that I’ve been desperate to go there again. Even the postman was loving them!

Magnetic Magic Nails!

Check out this amazing nail polish from FashionistA launching in September 2011 in Superdrug.

Photobucket

It's crazy stuff. You paint on one coat, hold the magnet over it for a second, and then this special effect happens!

This polish comes in five shades. I am wearing two of them here. The purple mainly, with the grey just on my ring fingers as an accent. They will be £6 each.

It's actually quite hypnotic, and I've had tonnes of comments today.

Sorry, but this knocks the socks off all the crackle polishes, which I have to say I never really went for. The crackle looked like a polish gone wrong, whereas this looks like a polish gone oh so right!

Love it!
