John Wind Maximal Art Autumn Winter 2011 and a Giveaway!

Photobucket
John Wind Maximal Art Autumn Winter 2011

The amazing American jewellery designer, John Wind Maximal Art has launched a gorgeous new collection for Autumn Winter 2011, and to celebrate, I am running a giveaway for ReallyRee readers.

John Wind Maximal Art has a very special place in my heart and ReallyRee history because John Wind was one of the first designers I wrote about. I then had the honour and privilege of meeting John himself, where we had a great chat and he gave me my own pearl coil bracelet with an 'R' on it.

This was swiftly followed by a private viewing of the John Wind Maximal Art collection at the mighty Victoria and Albert Museum which was absolutely amazing. The company celebrated 25 years of doing what they do last year, and the new collection is no disappointment.

Wear It Pink!!

Photobucket

Wear It Pink day is Breast Cancer Campaign's biggest event and it's super easy to get involved.

All you have to do, as the name would suggest, is wear something pink on the 28th October 2011. It could be an item of pink clothing, a slick of pink makeup, or go pink head to toe if you like!!  The main thing is that you join in, get 'in the pink' in your own way, and donate £2 to Breast Cancer Campaign.

And why not get a group of you together and create a massive pink glow!!?? Fabbie!

I'm sure you have tonnes of ideas of how to get involved, but just in case, here are some of the ways that I would do it.

Easy-peasy - wear a pink dress. This one is from Zara.

Photobucket
Wear It Pink 28th October 2011

If this feels a bit Summery for the end of October, you can wear it with thick tights to keep you warm and you'll inject a fab bit of colour into everyone's day.

Get creative with makeup and try a catwalk look.

Wear It Pink 28th October 2011

This is a look straight from London Fashion Week at the Clements Ribeiro SS12 show, which I was lucky enough to be backstage at. The super talented Cassie Lomas created this soft but edgy look for Bourjois. It actually uses blush on the eyes - this is Round Pot Blush in Cendre de Rose Brune from Bourjois.

And if that's too much, how about a good old slick of pink lipstick?

Photobucket
Wear It Pink 28th October 2011

This is one of my fave lip colours at the moment. It's one of the new Colour Elixirs from Max Factor. This one is English Rose 510. The Colour Elixirs are super moisturising so excellent for Winter lips.

One in eight women is diagnosed with breast cancer every year and wear it pink helps to fund vital research into a disease which affects so many people. So get ready to wear it pink and be part of the cure!

Visit www.wearitpink.co.uk or call 0800 107 3104 to register now.

To stay up to date, follow Breast Cancer Campaign on twitter - twitter.com/bccampaign

How will you turn 28th October 2011 pink?

Pai Rosehip BioRegenerate Oil - A Review

Photobucket
Pai Chamomile & Rosehip Sensitive Skin Cream

I was tempted to try out British Organic skincare range, Pai, when I heard that the brand is a firm favourite of Natalie Portman and Saoirse Ronan, not to mention many Hollywood makeup artists in the know.

Although Natalie Portman's fave is reported to be the Chamomile & Rosehip Sensitive Skin Cream, she's a lovely flawless young thing and I obsess about my wrinkles, so I went for the Rosehip BioRegenerate oil.

Photobucket
Pai Rosehip BioRegenerate Oil

Obsessed with keeping my skin hydrated, I love a facial oil, and I have to give it to them, this one from Pai is absolutely amazing. It promises to promote a silky, even and radiant skin tone as well as improving the appearance of fine lines, scars, stretch marks and sun damage.

As you can see, it's bright orange, which for me is a brilliant sign because natural products that are bright in colour always convince me of their potency.... "The Pai Rosehip BioRegenerate Oil is unique in using concentrated fruit hip oil, with twice the regenerative sterols and five times the caretonoids of seed oil."

I took this little bottle on my holiday, and although I am always VERY careful in the sun, I do find hot environments in general tend to dehydrate my already dry skin. This Pai Oil was the perfect remedy and my thirsty skin drank it up quickly day and night.

I think that it's meant for use at night only, but I'm no coward when it comes to oil and am more than happy to use a drop or 2 during the day - I find this creates a lovely smooth base for makeup. It may be too much for someone with oilier skin, but in all fairness, I do believe that our skins understand oils better than we think (it produces it itself after all) so I would definitely encourage you to experiment with this.

Also, in other wrinkle fighting news, I have just started trialling a home fraxel laser system which leaves my skin my skin temporarily red and swollen. The Pai Rosehip BioRegenerate Oil is instantly soothing and works quickly to return my skin to a tranquil state.

I really can't say enough good things about this oil. It definitely softens fine lines and minimises my pores. It's hard to comment about its long term anti-ageing effects but I will certainly be including it in my skincare regime in the future.

It costs £20 for 30mls. For more information visit www.paiskincare.com

A Bit of Modern Friction from Origins - A Review

Photobucket
Origins Modern Friction

OK, this is probably going to come across as less of a review, and more of a 'oh my goodness, why has no-one told me about this amazing exfoliator before' kind of thing. But please bear with me...

So.... oh my goodness, why has no-one told me about this amazing exfoliator before??!! I completely love it! Not only is it lovely, super easy to use and feels great, it has delivered lovely results. It leaves my skin super soft, very hydrated and has definitely helped to refine my pores and brighten my skin.

Now it's not cheap - £28.60 for 125ml from Boots - but you don't need a lot and used twice a week, the tube will last for ages. It has a paste-like consistency - thickish cream packed with rice starch - perfect for spreading straight onto dry skin. You then gently massage it over the skin. It feels kind of masky, and I occasionally leave it on for a few minutes before adding a little bit of water to work it into a lovely lather.

I generally wash it off in the shower, because I find this is the most effective way of getting rid of every last grain of a scrub, and then follow with a toner. By this time, my skin is glowing, but without the redness that is often associated with exfoliation.

It contains lemon oil for brightness and vitamin C to protect the skin from free radicals and is probably one of the nicest and most effective face scrubs I have ever used. I LOVE IT and I'm not alone.  Origins tested Modern Friction on a panel of 54 women. After just one try, of those who had undergone clinical micro-dermabrasion, 94% said they would now consider using Modern Friction instead.

I would recommend it for all skin types. Mine is dry but if you suffer with sensitivity, use it on damp skin rather than dry.

For more info visit Origins or Boots.

And back to the original question, where had this scrub been all my life??!

Head and Shoulders Celebrates Turning 50!

To celebrate Head & Shoulders's 50th birthday, a bunch of bloggers headed down to the Saint Martin's Lane hotel to take part in Peter Lux's Up Do masterclass.

Photobucket
Peter Lux for Head & Shoulders

Peter Lux is the Creative Director for Head & Shoulder and also a hair God! I have been a fan ever since I met him earlier in the year. Incidentally, I am also a big Head & Shoulders fan. It has a permanent place in my bathroom.

It was a super fun session, and we got into teams to attempt to follow Peter's lead. Our model was slightly balding and greying  but we did our best!

My Jonathan Aston Style Challenge

Jonathan Aston recently launched their Autumn/Winter ‘On Show’ collection of tights, and to celebrate they have asked some bloggers to take part in a ‘Blogger Style Off’ - and you guessed it...I am one of them!

It was a simple ask. Pick a pair of amazing tights from the amazing Jonathan Aston 'On Show' collection and then choose an outfit to wear with them. Too simple!! I completely struggled!! I couldn't think of anything, I left it to the last minute, tried not to think about it during London Fashion Week, and then ended up prancing around very late at night trying to look good for the camera! Here's my effort!

I adore the tights, love them in fact, but it's amazing how a simple thing can suddenly seem so hard. I am sure that people will have come up with more imaginative and exciting outfits... but this is mine and I decided that simplicity is key!

Now all I ask from you is that you pop over to facebook here, and like my photo.

I am in with the chance of winning the entire 'On Show' collection to give away on the blog. That's the best part!

Thanking you!

Mavala Catwalk Nails

With all the excitement of London Fashion Week, it's so easy to get swept up in everything about Spring and Summer 2012.

So when I did my nails yesterday, I made a point of looking back to last fashion week, and in particular to PPQ's dazzling reds for Autumn Winter 2011.

Photobucket
Mavala and PPQ AW11

Mavala were backstage at PPQ's show earlier in the year, and the 'Rococo Red' and 'Red Diamond' were selected to make bold statements and match the models lips.

Nails had a first coat of Rococo Red...

Mavala 'Rococo Red'

And then topped with the lovely sparkly Red Diamond, recreated here especially for you (and me!).

The Mavala polishes are so easy to use. The Rococo Red covers the nail beautifully in one coat and dries to a lovely shine. And I never could resist a glitter polish!! Layering them together creates a wonderful depth to the colour. Autumn Ready!!

Check out the nail looks Mavala created this Fashion Week for Spring Summer 2012 for Toni&Guy...

And Belle Sauvage...

Well with the curtains about to fall on this season's London Fashion Week, if you have been anywhere near, it will have been hard to escape Toni&Guy's label.m, the official backstage haircare and styling range used for the past 15 seasons.

With the launch of Hair Meet Wardrobe, and London Fashion Week's first ever Hair Fashion Show, it's clear to see that Toni&Guy and label.m are as much a part of fashion as the clothes we see on the catwalks.

The haircare collections are available with this gorgeously embellished clutch bag, in a print from Giles Deacon's Autumn Winter 2011 collection , as well as a super stylish gift boxes with a high fashion feel.
