My boyfriend’s friend asked him for tips on his impending first date and of course I had to get involved. After putting my first point in, which was BUY THE DRINKS, I decided to take to twitter to get some help from the girls. I mean, I think we all need all the help we can get when it comes to such scary situations!
This is what I asked:
GIRLS. WHAT POINTERS SHOULD WE GIVE TO BOYS GOING ON A FIRST DATE. THINK CLUELESS BOYS

When I say clueless I promise I am not being¬†judgmental. I just think that a lot of lads genuinely don’t understand the minefield that is ¬†the first date. I am not sure that I really get it either!
And in a few minutes flat, this is what I got back. It seems the women of twitter have lots of help to offer on the matter. It was suggested to me, as you’ll see, that I should write it up to help all the boys looking for help in the future and so here it is.

And there you have it boys! Please feel free to add your own tips in the comments everyone, especially if you think there is something crucial that has been missed.
We shall be passing all this on to he who shall remain nameless, and sending positive thoughts out to the universe. I do hope it goes well!!
And thanks girls for all your help. I do love my twitter pals!

Being someone who actively dates and thus has had many first dates, I never care about half of these things you twitterers have bought up. Good breath and general hygiene, of course! Surely for always though, not just first dates?

I missed this twitter call but if I hadn’t I would second the ‘buy the drinks!’, don’t talk about yourself all night, ask questions about your date, compliment them! ESSENTIAL. Don’t talk about exs or other girls, especially pretty girls. Criticising someone on their fragrance choice seems a bit mean to me, I’d be happy they’d made the effort with a fragrance. Lastly, I personally like the ‘are they your real lashes?’ lines, because it makes me feel pretty and is hardly insulting. Maybe that’s just me. OH,and don’t be late and keep the girl waiting!

I agree! You should ever keep the girl waiting. I hate it when guys make me wait. I’d rather leave than wait.
