Easy Smoky Eye Makeup

Tuesday, 30th Oct 2012
I just thought I’d do a little post on the quick eye makeup I have been doing recently. It is really simple, really fast and really rather effective I think! Ta-da!

As you can see, there is not a lot to it really. Here is what I use:

Max Factor False Lash Effect Mascara, Smashbox Photo Op Palette and Topshop Kohl

I absolutely adore this palette from Smashbox. I was given it at their recent launch party and I haven’t really put it down.
For this simple smoky eye look, I just sweep the pale gold shade called sandstorm over my entire lid with a fluffy brush.

I then just take a small angled brush and sweep the browny bronzey shade, Russet, along the lower lash line.

I then grab my absolute favourite eye pencil of the moment. It is Topshop’s Kohl pencil in Sable. I love everything about it.

The formula is super soft and blendable, and the colour is just perfect. It is the most beautiful rich brown, and a wonderful soft alternative to black. Love it!
I use in along the water line and also along the top lash line, flicking it out a bit on the outer corner. I take my small angled eye defining brush and smudge out the top line.

Next it is lashings of Max Factor False Lash Effect Mascara in Black Brown – loads on the top and just a touch on the bottom. I love False Lash Effect because it is seriously lengthening and volumising, and you can do lots of coats without it clumping.
I am loving using browns in place of black round my eyes at the moment. I used to only ever use the blackest of the black, but I am finding brown really rather pretty and flattering right now, without losing any of the impact.
What do you think? Do you use brown or is it black all the way for you?
