I just got back from an event with L'Oreal Paris and the lovely Lisa Laudat, personal hairstylist and makeup artist to queen of hair, Cheryl Cole. It was so exciting! Lisa created two signature Cheryl looks. The one I am going to show you in this post is this gorgeous, showstopping volume and waves style. Love it!

Now this is absolutely enormous hair but it is totally gorgeous and I completely want it. I think this could be my New Year's Eve hair!!
Obviously, I haven't had a chance to try it myself yet, and Lisa Laudat says it takes her 2 hours to do Cheryl's hair like this, but I took a few photos from the session just to give you an idea of how it's done. Take a look!
In terms of products, the hair is prepped with the new Elnett Styling Spray for Volume on the roots, the L'Oreal Studio Silk & Gloss Volume Mousse through the lengths and L'Oreal Extraordinary Oil on the ends. Then the action starts.
Lisa waved the hair using a small conical wand in sections. To get a wave rather than a curl, she twisted the hair forward and then curled it back over the wand. For the next section, she did the opposite - this way you get lots of tumbling waves without it looking too uniform. She pinned the waves up as she went so they could firmly set.

Once this is done it is all about the backcombing. Lisa used a backcombing brush to push through the root and then sprayed each section with Elnett hairspray.

Lisa kept working round backcombing and then spraying the roots, paying particular attention to the front and side sections.

All you need to do is smooth the top sections over the back combing. When it comes to pinning the front section back, Lisa says use the eyes as a guide for the width of the piece of hair.

You only need a fairly fine section so that the hair looks really big behind. You can use a couple of kirby grips and tuck them in and under the hair to secure in place without seeing too much of them.

It doesn't have to look perfect. In fact, Lisa said that it's better if it's sexy and messed up a bit, with one side more forward than the other. That way it doesn't look too done.
And that's it. I can't wait to try it out. I will show the other Cheryl look soon. It is a ponytail and totally gorgeous!
The new Elnett Styling sprays are amazing. I have been using the volume one and I absolutely love it. It gives my hair real bounce and makes it super soft at the same time.
