After months, well years, of deliberation, I finally decided to take the plunge and go for botox. What swung it was that I am SO interested in it as a beauty topic that if it hadn't had such taboo status, I would certainly have tried it ages ago. I never want to get bogged down by taboos and quite frankly, the only way to find out if it was for me was to try it. So just before Christmas I did it!! Excitement does not describe how I felt.
I had my treatment at Courthouse Clinics where Jane, aka British Beauty Blogger has been going for years, so I felt in really safe hands - particularly as I had observed Jane receiving treatment there previously.
I will talk more about the treatment itself later, but for now I think it is before and after pictures that you want to see.
I have chosen 2 photos where I have very similar hair and makeup so that you can see the difference most clearly. Focus on the eyes and crows feet as that is where I had my treatment.

Even I am impressed with how much fresher I look! You see, I had it done just over 7 weeks ago and I have kind of got used to seeing myself without all the wrinkles. It is quite a shock looking at the befores!
The following pics were taken in the surgery at the end of long days, so I am not looking particularly fresh in either pic!

The thing is, my skin is in fairly good condition and I really try to look after it, but I always felt that it was the lines around the eyes when I smile that gave the game away. I don't worry about that any more!! Yay!
I have to say, I couldn't be more thrilled with the results and the only feeling of regret I have is: "Why didn't I do this before???!!!". I absolutely love it.
In terms of the whole experience, it was pretty incredible. Courthouse is absolutely brilliant with wonderful people making every part of the process really pleasant.
My doctor was fabulous and made me feel really at ease with realistic and pragmatic advice, so that I always knew what to expect. He used the tiniest bit of botox for a natural yet effective result.
I went back 2 weeks later and had a tiny top up in order to perfect my results. The last picture above is just before the top up. The first after picture with the red lip is after the top up had taken effect.
If you want to know about pain then I can tell you that I didn't even flinch. It was actually less painful than having my eyebrows threaded. Obviously pain is a very subjective thing, and I am pretty hardcore when it comes to suffering for beauty, but really, it was much less painful than I expected it to be. MUCH!
One thing to point out is that it isn't instant. It took about 2 weeks for the full effects to show after the treatments but they are definitely worth waiting for.
The treatment I received costs approximately £300. For the purposes of review, I was not required to pay but I can honestly say, with hand on heart, that I would pay that in a heart beat. The effects will last for at least 3 months and I will be going back for more!
If you have been thinking about Botox, I would definitely recommend Courthouse Clinics because all the advice and treatment I received was so sensible, realistic and effective. I promise I am not being paid to say this, I have just been completely impressed!
One word of warning though. I am now completely hooked - if you go for it, the chances are, you will be too!
