For those of you who aren’t aware, Malin and Goetz is a well-renowned skincare brand that was launched back in 2004. Originating in NYC, they focus on caring for sensitive skin. It is a family run business established jointly by Matthew Malin and Andrew Goetz. They prides themselves on using natural products- they experiment, mix and produce all products themselves working alongside trusted chemists. Both waited on customers the first three years of business – like a real apothecary!
The Malin + Goetz Dark Rum product line has been immensely popular for over a decade now, and this May ‘17 marked the long awaited arrival of the Dark Rum Fragrance. I have been testing it and these are my thoughts. Find it here
Firstly I must say I adore the design of the bottle – it’s so simple, yet utterly stylish. And it really does have that ‘chemist’ feel about it, with all the ingredients clearly listed on the see-through bottle.
Malin + Goetz Dark Rum EDP Notes
Top notes: Bergamot and plum
Middle notes: Rum and leather
Bottom Notes: Amber, patchouli, and milk.
The parfum is sensuous to say the least, with top notes of bergamot, plum and anise it really does tease the senses. Just how Malin + Goetz have managed to encapsulate and capture the smell of rum, worn leather and milk, and make it seductive – I will never know. It’s one of those parfums that really grow on you. It’s got a completely unique smell that may not be to everybody’s taste – it certainly wasn’t to mine at first.
However, after wearing it out a few times it really got me head over heels. It works very well layered for strong impressions – combined with my everyday scent the combination was unstoppable. It’s like wearing a cheeky Captain Morgans cocktail all day.
Overall, I would say I feel this is going to be the marmite of the perfume world. You are either going to love it or hate it. After much consideration, and a good few attempts at using it, I can safely say I love it. Find it here
