MZ Skin launched in October last year and is sold via Net-a-Porter, in store at Fortnum and Mason and via their site. MZ Skin is based on clinically proven ingredients housed in Instagrammable pink and gold packaging. My bathroom cabinet has never looked so elegant!
I was sent MZ Skin Cleanse and Clarify dual action AHA cleanser and mask, Natural Konjac Face Sponge and the Lift and Lustre Golden Elixir Antioxidant Serum to try. They are somewhat on the expensive side, so I was interested to see if you actually do get what you pay for. I gave MZ Skin a good road test. Read on to find out how I got on and to see the results.
MZ Skin Skincare Review- Cleanse and Clarify AHA Cleanser and Mask
Cleanse and Clarify is, on first appearance, a face wash in a tube, a very nice tube with a gold lid with pretty lettering at that. But Cleanse and Clarify also doubles as an exfoliating mask. It is hard to find a product that does one job well. Can a dual use product perform both it’s functions adequately? And is it possible to leave a cleanser on the skin for several minutes without causing irritation? It seems that yes, it is possible, Cleanse and Clarify manages to be both a good cleanser and an effective face mask. Find it here.
Cleanse and Clarify AHA Cleanser and Mask Active Ingredients

- Lactic Acid– For gentle exfoliation and hydration.

Cleanse and Clarify AHA Cleanser and Mask Directions
Use morning and night, apply to damp skin and use the Natural Konjac Sponge to massage into the face. To use as a mask twice weekly, after cleansing leave on for 10 minutes, rinse off with warm water.
Cleanse and Clarify AHA cleanser and mask has a lovely soft feel when used as a cleanser. It has a lovely light citrusy scent. It doesn’t foam up a great deal, which is great, ingredients which cause a lot of lather can also be very drying to skin. When just used as a cleanser my skin feels clean but not taut and dry.
On the days when I feel I need a more thorough exfoliation I leave Cleanse and Clarify on for about 10 minutes as a mask. I have generally been using it as a second step in a double cleanse when I use it as a mask. First I remove my makeup, then lather up the Cleanse and Clarify, then let it sit. I have to admit, it does feel a bit wrong to leave my cleanser drying on my face, I keep expecting it to start stinging. But there is no stinging, maybe just a slight tingling, and my face feels smooth and happy after I have removed it.
I really like Cleanse and Clarify- it cleanses gently and exfoliates well without causing irritation.
MZ Skin by Dr Maryam Zamani Review- Natural Konjac Sponge with mineral rich red clay
Konjac sponges are traditionally used by the Japanese to gently exfoliate and cleanse the face. They come from the root of a Konjac plant and are rich in vitamins and minerals. A Konjac sponge is a great skincare tool- it help to gently physically exfoliate without causing any irritation. A Konjac sponge will last around 4-6 weeks, before needing to be discarded. It’s a handy tool for removing makeup, cleansing the pores, gently exfoliating and it’s suitable for all skin types.
Directions– Hydrate the sponge- Konjac sponges become very hard when dry, first of all soak thoroughly in warm water, use the sponge to massage in your chosen cleanser, rinse out the sponge and allow to fully dry in a warm area for storage. Find it here
MZ Skin by Dr Maryam Zamani Review- Lift and Lustre Golden Elixir Antioxidant Serum
Lift and Lustre is a plumping smoothing serum with a lustrous golden sheen. It comes in a gorgeous dropper bottle in it’s lovely dusky pink box. It’s hard not to get excited when presented with something so sparkly and pretty. Hopefully it’s not just a pretty face, Lift and Lustre, in the words of it’s creator, “works to enhance the skin and protect it from inflammation, it hydrates, lifts and firms the skin instantly and cumulatively the results keep improving”.
I found that Lift and Lustre Golden Elixir has quite a strong perfume which I am not mad about, but it does give a nice sheen to the skin. MZ Skin advises applying before moisturiser or after makeup for a radiance boost. Find it here
Lift and Lustre Golden Elixir Antioxidant Serum contains:
- Botanical polysaccharide- Xylitol Glucoside- Reinforces the synthesis of essential lipids and protein in the top layer of skin thereby strengthening the skin barrier and increasing moisture.
