Spring Beauty Trends – Sparkle isn’t just for Christmas
As someone who is a complete glitter fanatic, I find it hard to leave glitter at Christmas. The good news is that glitter is here to stay this spring! The trend is called ‘Frosted Eyes’ and it was seen all over the catwalks for this season (including at Shiatzy Chen). To achieve this look take a metallic eyeshadow and apply it all over the lid. For a bit of extra sparkle, add a touch of glitter right in the centre of the eyelid to create a halo effect. If you’re more brave, add the glitter all over the eyelid and rejoice in the sparkle! Try Stila Magnificent Metals Glitter & Glow Liquid Eyeshadows for high pigment, long lasting glitter.
Spring Beauty Trends – Embrace dewy skin
This is no new trend, by any stretch of the imagination – it’s definitely an old classic – dewy skin is back for springtime! Reach for one of your lighter bases, swapping your thicker, high-coverage favourites for something like a BB cream. If you prefer to keep your makeup high coverage, you could try adding a liquid highlighter to your everyday foundation. Put a pump of your foundation on the back of your hand and use a brush to mix in two drops of a liquid highlighter. This approach gives you a dewy finish without compromising on coverage!
Spring Beauty Trends – Do something different with your eyeliner
I was really excited to see eyeliner taking a centre stage on the catwalks this season. The likes of Wunderkind, Cividini and Sophia Webster all embraced something a little bit different with eyeliner. There were two main trends – bold and neon! Try taking your everyday cat eye up a gear by making the line thicker or adding a pattern into the mix. If you want something that will really stand out, try swapping your regular black eyeliner for a neon alternative!
Spring Beauty Trends – Brows on fleek, all year round
Just because the warmer months are on their way, we don’t need to leave our bold brows behind! It doesn’t look like big brows are going out of fashion anytime soon and I’m personally really glad they are here to stay! Whatever your brow concern there is definitely a product for you – use a pencil to define the shape and fill in any gaps, then finish with a brow gel to add staying power!
Spring Beauty Trends – It’s never too sunny for a red lip
When the sun comes out I feel like most of us are programmed to put our red lips away, swapping them for something more summery. What’s interesting this season is that red lips are staying throughout the warmer months. The likes of Giambatista Valli, Carolina Herrera and Trussardi ditched the pinks and nudes, swapping them for bold red hues that have a high impact! If you’re not brave enough to opt for a highly pigmented matte red lip, you could start with a tinted red balm and work your way up to something bolder later in the season.
So there you have it, five fabulous spring beauty trends! Some of these are classic trends that pop up every season, but it’s exciting to see something different also popping into the mix. I’d love to hear about any trends you’ll be embracing in the comments below.
