The Super Primers are here from Cover FX and there’s a whole range of different finishes to choose from. Predicatably, I went straight for the Cover FX Dewy Skin Primer which promises to be the moisture maximiser. Here’s what you need to know!
Each primer in the collection comes in super-cute pastel tubes, and this baby blue one is for dewy skin.
Cover FX Dewy Skin Primer Features
The texture of this primer wasn’t what I was expecting at all. The majority of glowy primers have a pearlescent finish but this one is a completely clear oil gel designed to make the skin really juicy:
- Nourishing primer that can be worn alone or beneath makeup
- Hydrating medium formulated with peptides, humectants and hyaluronic acid
- The ingredients work to condition the skin with every application
- Promotes even coverage and maximum blendability
- Smooths the look of fine lines
- Use it alone to improve skin clarity and radiance for a more youthful appearance
- Suitable for normal to dry skin
- Formulated without parabens, mineral oil, talc, phthalates, sulphates or fragrance
- Certified gluten-free, cruelty-free and vegan friendly
- Available HERE
As I said, the Cover FX Dewy Skin Primer has an unexpected texture for an illuminating primer. Once you try it, and you only need a tiny bit, you realise that the word ‘dewy’ is the perfect word to describe the effect it has on the skin.
It is a clear oil-gel that glides over the skin beautifully and makes my skin feel and look super smooth. You need to be careful that you squeeze out too much as you will end up with too much product and nowhere to put it.
How To Apply
As I said, you need a very small amount, and when I apply this, I tend to avoid any areas where my skin leans to combination – my nose and chin – and so I smooth over my forehead, sides of the face, and really concentrate on my cheekbones where I want my skin to look the dewiest.
If, like me, you like your skin to look juicy and even a teensy but sweaty in the right places, then you will get on well with this. I even really like to tap a tiny trace on the tops of my cheekbones to really get that glossy, highlit look. Oily skins, or those that don’t like looking a bit shiny, probably won’t enjoy this.
If you have any foundations that are a bit too far on the matte side for you, then this will transform the finish to something a lot fresher, juicier and more luminous. It makes the skin look super hydrated and I find that the formula stops any foundation applied over the top drying out and keeps it looking fresh.
The one thing I would say is that it doesn’t prolong the wear of foundation in a way that a traditional primer can. But I am happy to touch up during if I can have gorgeous glossy skin. If I really need my makeup to stay put all day, then I might skip this, or literally just use it on the cheekbones.
On my skin
I used a light layer of the Cover FX Dewy Skin Primer under my Bobbi Brown Skin Foundation Stick in Neutral Sand and it blended so beautiful. I love the finish this primer gives. You can see the same foundation applied without the primer here, as a comparison.
I’ve also heard really great things about the Cover FX Gripping Primer from the Super Primers collection, so I can’t wait to try that next. I think that one will be great for days when I don’t want my makeup going anywhere. It seems to be sold out at a lot of places at the moment so it must be good.
The Cover FX Dewy Skin Primer is available HERE now for £30.
