I’m extremely fussy about nail polish. I can’t tell you the number of times I’ve done my nails just to find they are instantly ruined because I gently picked something up by its edge. Or it chips after 15 minutes- I ain’t got time for that. It makes me so cross. I am a restless person, waiting for nail varnish to dry is just torture. So if I have gone to the effort of sitting tight through the drying process, I need that nail varnish to be robust enough to last a dish wash. Jessica is pretty much the only brand I can rely on to make nail polish that doesn’t chip within 24 hours.
Jessica Vertoughian is the founder of Jessica and was the first person to open a nails only salon. And you’ll find Jessica polish used widely in nail salons throughout the world. Jessica’s ethos is that all nails are not alike and different types require individual solutions.
Jessica Silhouette Collection Review
The Jessica Silhouette collection is a gorgeous selection of nudes and neutrals. A couple of the polishes have a touch of sparkle to them. They are all very elegant shades. You could choose any of the shades from the Silhouette collection to wear to work, or to a wedding, or to dinner, the colours are very pretty and versatile.
This is what Jessica has to say:
JESSICA® undresses oversaturated nails to reveal their natural beauty and desire for her Spring 2017 Collection of tempting, natural nudes named Silhouette. The collection is make-up for the nails and bares six sophisticated shades of simple and sexy nude colors suitable for every skin tone. Developed with subtle yet shimmery tones, Silhouette’s perennial beauty will carry any lady through the season with style and class.
Jessica Nail Polish is free from:
- Formaldehyde Resin,
- Toluene, DSP,
- Xylene (or Ethyl Tosylamide),
- They are cruelty free, vegan friendly and made in the USA.
I would say that Jessica polishes are pretty quick to dry. Nail polish seems to take a really long time to dry on me; apparently I have oily nails. I was reliably informed by a nail lady that if you have oily nails then nail polish takes much longer to dry. Some nail polishes never dry on my fingernails, it’s weird. But Jessica Nail polish dries pretty quickly on me. Three coats and a top coat takes about an hour, which is pretty good in my book. The brush is a standard blunt ended nail polish brush, the handle is round and easy to manoeuvre.
The Silhouette collection consists of six shades:
Jessica Silhouette Collection Spring 2017 – Naked Contour
Naked Contour is a light Mocha polish, a light brown/mushroom colour. Find it here
Jessica Silhouette Collection Spring 2017 – Bare It All
Bare it all is an opaque light light pink. I found this shade the most tricky to apply probably because it is opaque, it was a little streaky. But as you can see, after three coats it looks really lovely- pretty and girly. Find it here
Jessica Silhouette Collection Spring 2017 – Tease
Tease is a really pretty sheer dusky pink shade. It’s easy to apply and looks very lovely on. Find it here
Jessica Silhouette Collection Spring 2017 – Simply Sexy
I would describe Simply Sexy as a light gray/pink. Again, its subtle and stylish. Find it here
Jessica Silhouette Collection Spring 2017 – Exposed
Exposed is a light neutral gray with glitter particles. I wasn’t expecting to like the glitter shades much, but they look really pretty and catch the light so nicely it’s hard not to be won over. Find it here
Jessica Silhouette Collection Spring 2017 – Nude Thrills
Nude Thrills is a light coffee colour with glitter particles. I love this colour, so pretty and elegant. I will say that the glitter polishes take a lot more effort to remove, you really have to soak them to get it to move. Find it here
Jessica Silhouette Collection is a sophisticated selection of neutral polishes. As with all Jessica nail polishes, they are of high quality and the shades are lovely and wearable. I was surprised by how much I liked the glitter polishes- they add a lovely accent. You can find them to order online here
