As a big fan of the Nars Velvet Matt Lip Pencils and also the brand’s latest foundation, All Day Luminous, I was literally chomping at the bit to test out this new launch, the Nars Velvet Matte Skin Tint SPF30. I have really been loving a velvet matte finish for skin this year and anything with SPF30 always gets my attention, being the sun-phobe that I am. Here’s the low-down with swatches and before and after photos.

I like this squeezy tube packaging. It isn’t glam but it’s super functional and there’s none of that Nars worry about whether you get a pump or not. And if you drop this, everything is going to be ok!
Nars Velvet Matte Skin Tint Swatches
There are 12 shades in total and I have 3 of them to show you, Finland Light 1, Alaska Light 2 and Cuzco Medium 1.5:
I love the soft, creamy texture. It melts into the skin easily, blends well with fingers and delivers a soft, weightless glowily matte finish.
Nars Velvet Matte Skin Tint Before and After Photos
Finland is the shade I have closest to my skin tone, so I have used that one for the before and after photos.
The above pic is without powder, but with a touch of bronzer, blush and mascara. I love the finish – redness is toned down, lines and (more importantly) enlarged pores are blurred out, and the skin looks softly glowing. It feels super hydrating yet light and I love the fact that it has SPF30.
A little goes a long way, and I think the coverage is medium and can be built to full. It delivers much more coverage than I was expecting considering it is called a tint, and I am very pleased about that!
