Red Carpet Manicure Fiji Fever Collection S/S 2017

25 Jun 2017

Just launched is the Spring/Summer 2017 Red Carpet Manicure Fiji Fever Collection. This is a collection of six neon shades which scream summer nails as soon as you see them. I own several Red Carpet Manicure polishes and products and have always found them to work really well for me.

Red Carpet Manicure polishes are gel polishes so require an LED lamp to cure them and they last up to 2-3 weeks before being soaked off. This makes them perfect for festivals or holidays. It’s not always possible to have a salon manicure and Red Carpet Manicure make it very affordable to achieve a salon perfect look at home.

All manicures require correct prep prior to colour application. For the swatches I used the Red Carpet Manicure prep on nails that had been gently buffed and wiped over with their purify. Prep is a nail dehydrator so aids longevity. I then applied a thin coat of their Structure base coat for smooth application, any coats of gel polish including treatments should always be as thin as possible and the free edge of the nail should be capped, and cured in the Pro LED Light for 45 seconds.

The Pro LED Light allows you to cure four fingers at a time and has an in built timer so no need to try to time yourself or guess how long your nails have been under. I always cure my four fingers on each hand then both thumbs together, they do have a YouTube channel with instructional videos and the lamp comes with full instructions. You can also fit your toes in and there’s room for all five toes at the same time.

Summer Glow

I started with Summer Glow. This is the neon yellow of the collection. It’s not normally a colour I would reach for but it certainly screams summer at full volume! I applied in total four thin coats and there was still some natural nail showing through. I feel almost all of these shades would benefit from a white crème polish underneath to help the colours truly stand out but I don’t have one in my collection so was unable to test this theory. Summer Glow was very bright and was a little more wearable than I had expected and I’d certainly rock this on my toes. If you feel a colour is a little too bold for you I’d advise testing the colour on your toes as it’s not such an obvious area. Find it here

Shake Your Beach Bum

Next up was Shake Your Beach Bum, a true Barbie pink. I achieved full opacity in three coats. I swatched these on a typical British wet Spring day and even though the sky was grey and lighting poor I was still wowed by the vividness of the pink. Find it here

Neon Nights

Neon Nights is the orange of the group. I have a love hate relationship with orange polishes especially neons but this was stunning! I needed three thin coats for full opacity and I currently have this on my toes. Find it here

Paparazzi Proof

Paparazzi Proof was the one I was most keen to swatch. It reminded me of Nails Inc Baker Street that has been a massive trend colour for several years and I love cobalt blue polishes. I had shaken the bottle for 30-60 seconds as I always do but the colour kept shrinking back! This is where the polish pulls away from the edges before you’ve had a chance to cure it. I tried applying and flash curing (curing for five seconds) then reapplying before curing properly. After four coats I had large patches of missing polish and couldn’t get it to work. I’m looking at white polishes so I can try this again with a white base to see if I have more success. Find it here

Beach Queen

Beach Queen is the purple shade. This was beautifully opaque in three coats and was very wearable for everyday. I wore this to work and received many many compliments. It does have a more pinky based tone to it, I’d probably describe it as an orchid purple but whatever you call it it’s stunning. Find it here

Cabana Bonanza

Lastly we have Cabana Bonanza which is a coral/red and my go to summer colour. This was a dream to apply, I could have possibly gotten away with two coats but I applied a third for extra opacity. This is the perfect colour to enhance a tan and I shall be rocking it most of the summer. Find it here

My favourites from the Fiji Fever Collection and my top picks are Shake your Beach Bum, Beach Queen and Cabana Bonanza. Which colours have taken your eye? Find Red Carpet Manicure Fiji Fever Collection here
