I’m a big fan of the Sexy Hair brand and I’ve not come across a product I don’t like. I use their Healthy Sexy Hair range regularly and I swear by the hairsprays as well as the oils and cremes.
Recently, I have been testing their Style Sexy Hair Color Safe Detox Shampoo which is infused with activated charcoal. You may or may not be aware that charcoal is prominent in the skincare world as it draws out impurities and brings balance to the skin. In the same way it is used for the face, charcoal works exactly the same way in the hair. Find it here
As I colour my hair regularly and wish to preserve the tone of my blonde hair for as long as possible, I was a little nervous to try this shampoo. However, it is suitable for colour treated hair, which thankfully means it will not strip the hair the way other clarifying shampoos can.
Whilst this is a clarifying shampoo, it can be used on a daily basis which makes it the perfect option for those with grease prone hair. I can go 3/4 days between washes and this prolongs the cleanliness of my hair, meaning I’m having to use less dry shampoo! Bonus.
This is a gentle shampoo that effectively removes product buildup whilst removing excess oil and other impurities that can leave the hair looking lacklustre. I have not used a true clarifying shampoo for a long time as I’ve often found them quite harsh and they can really strip the hair of moisture. With this shampoo, that is not the case. My hair feels softer, moisturised and ultimately, squeaky clean.
In terms of conditioning, this adds a good amount of goodness to the hair. I find it much easier to brush which I’m grateful for considering I have tape-in extensions that can get a little knotty. I’ve had less breakage and my hair generally feels smoother.
There isn’t a particularly ‘ashy’ smell with the product though it’s quite grey in colour. Don’t let that put you off, it’s a fantastic shampoo. You can find Style Sexy Hair Color Safe Detox Shampoo to order online here
