I thought this was really interesting. Just launched is the Superdrug Skin Renew Botox & Dermal Filler Service, which means that customers will be able to have anti-wrinkle and skin rejuvenation aesthetic treatments in store.
Superdrug has already been providing beauty services; from the likes of the likes of eyebrow threading and manicures to piercing, and this new step brings Harley Street onto the high street.
Skin Renew has been devised in response to feedback from nearly 10,000 of its customers. This revealed a demand for treatments such as BOTOX and Juvéderm dermal fillers, both products of leading pharmaceutical company, Allergan.
Trust is such a huge issue when it comes to these kind of beauty treatments, and Superdrug and Allergan want customers to feel reassured that nurses will be trained to the highest standards when it comes to the medical procedure.
Superdrug Skin Renew Botox & Dermal Filler Service
- Nurses will be trained to the highest standards in medical procedure
- Skin Renew consultations can only be booked by phoning their dedicated customer service team, trained to answer any questions
- The consultation will help people decide whether a consultation is right for them
- Consultations are held with a qualified nurse
- Each patient will complete a medical questionnaire to assess eligibility for treatment
- Aesthetics nurses will review the information and form a clinical and professional opinion if the treatment is appropriate for the patient
- The minimum age for the service is 25
Why this is a good move
For me, the launch of this service brings the growing idea that procedures such as Botox and Filler fall within the beauty treatment category, rather than being this huge taboo and associated with frozen expressions and over-filled faces. And you totally don’t need to be dodging in and out of cosmetic doctors with sunglasses and a big hat!
Caris Newson, Head of Health and Wellbeing Services at Superdrug said, “We know from our research among 10,000 customers that feeling confident about how you look is linked to a person’s wellbeing, and that’s different for all of us. For some it might mean having their eyebrows threaded or getting their nails done, for others taking new vitamins or getting fitter, or it might be about smoothing out fine lines.”
The problem with the growth in popularity of this kind of treatment means that there is an awful lot of dodgy work going on. It is often inspired by reality TV trends and so called doctors (or dentists!) trying to make a fast buck. This is when things can go seriously wrong. There is often no consultation and very limited understanding of expectations. It is incredibly important that people undergoing treatment have a full understanding of the qualifications or competence of the person carrying it out.
The launch of the Superdrug Skin Renew Botox & Dermal Filler Service means that high-end, trusted service will be available on the high street and hopefully people will be less likely to fall into the hands of unqualified treatment providers.
Superdrug Skin Renew will start in The Strand London store. Following customer feedback, it will roll out across the UK following consumer feedback. The service will start at £99. Appointments will be booked by calling the Skin Renew customer services team on 03333203503. Find Superdrug HERE.
